All contractors appointed by the Council need to carry public liability insurance cover, provide site specific risk assessments for the job as well as copies of any licences held qualifying them to carry out the work.  If the contractor is not known to the Council, they will need to provide details of 3 clients where they have carried out similar work, so the Council can take up references.

Other areas of work for which contractors are appointed from time to time include:

Grass cutting and ground maintenance at the allotments and Kirkheaton Churchyard; 

Joiners / handymen to make repairs to public seats, noticeboards, gates etc;

Tree surgeons for general maintenance or to deal with wind damage;

Builders for wall and path repairs.
