Calendar of Community Events

All community groups and 'not for profit' organisations throughout the Parish are welcome to submit information regarding their forthcoming events, and we will be pleased to include them on the list below free of charge.  Please allow 7 days before the event, if possible.  We will also display any information notices. However, we cannot display notices of a commercial or political nature.

'By the People, For the People' : New Exhibition at the National Coal Mining Museum
2017 marks the 70th anniversary of the nationalisation of the coal industry in Britain.  To mark this important and historic event, the National Coal Mining Museum will be launching a new special exhibition which opens on Monday 3 April and will run until 6 December. Coffee Morning on Friday 22 September at the Blacksmiths Arms in Grange Moor
All proceeds to the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice. Please come along, bring a friend or neighbour and support this fantastic children's charity. Raffle Star prize: Bosch Microwave Oven and other prizes. Raffle tickets available in the Blacksmiths Arms before the day.


Grange Moor Scarecrow Competition 2017

Entry forms will be available from Saturday 26 August and by email on request to: gramoorca@btinternet.com.  Closing date: Saturday 16 September. 

Open Viewing Day: Sunday 24 September.
New Prize Category for the Competition: "The People's Choice", judged by residents on the Open Viewing Day.  Start at the Grange Pub and pick up the suggested route.  have a wander around the village and look at the Scarecrow Entries on display.  Vote for your choice - "The People's Choice" (£1 per vote). 

Return your voting paper to the Grange.  There is a slide show with all entries at the Grange. 

To finish off your day, why not have a drink in the Grange or have a family meal at one of the restaurants in the village.  (Booking may be advisable).


"Victorian Leisure & Pleasure" : Talk at Kirkheaton Community Centre on Thursday 28 September

Family Race Night : Saturday 30 September at the Grange Pub from 6pm
This is a joint fundraising event and proceeds will be shared between Grange Moor Bowling Club and Grange Moor Community Association. The Scarecrow Competition prize winners will be announced and the prizes will be awarded. Deaf or Hard of Hearing? There's a new way to contact the Police.  A new emergency SMS system has been developed by the RNID, BT, DCLG and other partners to allow people with hearing difficulties to report an incident or in an emergency.
