Calendar of Community Events

All community groups and 'not for profit' organisations throughout the Parish are welcome to submit information regarding their forthcoming events, and we will be pleased to include them on the list below free of charge.  We will also display any information notices. However, we cannot display notices of a commercial or political nature.

Over 60's Digital Photography Competition 2019
The competition is open to members and villagers over 60. To compete you need to submit a digital photo taken in Shelley or of Shelley. Entries must be received by 25 July and can be handed in at one of our regular Thursday meetings or at our Drop-In. Alternatively you can email your photo with your details to shelleydigitalphoto@yahoo.co.uk . Please supply your digital image only (no printed images). The finalists will be judged at the Over 60's Coffee Day on 27 August.

Wacky Wednesday Seaside Special at the National Coal Mining Museum : 21 August : 10.15 - 11.45
Under 5s and their carers are invited to join a train ride to the museum beach and enjoy a session of seaside songs, stories, rhymes, activities and craft making to take home. The morning ends with a special performance exploring the holiday adventures of our old friend, Maurice the Miner. We hope to see you and your family! Please note that as places are limited, this event is on a first come first served basis. To book your place, call our reception on 01924 848806. Cost: £5 per child, £5 per adult. Includes car parking and train ride to Hope Pit for activities. Under 1’s FREE.

Shelley Over 60's Coffee Day: 27 August from 1pm to 4pm at Shelley Village Hall.  Admission £2 including entry into the prize draw

Kirkwood Hospice Support Group : Beetle Drive : 29 August at 1.30 pm at the United Church, New Road, Kirkheaton

Tractorfest : 1 September at North Moor Lane, off Moor Top Road in Kirkheaton

Garden Party at Cliffe House in Shepley : 1 September from 11am to 3pm
Music by Shepley Band, features Cream Tea, House Tours, Woodland Walk, Biscuit Decorating, Willow Weaving, Archery, Adventure Playground plus much more. Entry £2; Entry + Cream Tea £5. Available from Cliffe House and the Black Bull.

2 - 14 September : Exhibition of Life in Kirkheaton in WW2 in Kirkheaton Community Centre

7 September at 7.30 pm : Swing Band Evening hosted by the Kirkwood Hospice Support Group at the United Church in Kirkheaton. Entry £7

26 September at 7.30 pm : Kirkheaton Local History Speaker "My Father's Experiences as a Fighter Pilot in WW2" at Kirkheaton Community Centre. Entry £2.50 inc light refreshments.
