Calendar of Community Events

All community groups and 'not for profit' organisations throughout the Parish are welcome to submit information regarding their forthcoming events, and we will be pleased to include them on the list below free of charge.  We will also display any information notices. However, we cannot display notices of a commercial or political nature.


Over 60's Digital Photography Competition 2019
The competition is open to members and villagers over 60. To compete you need to submit a digital photo taken in Shelley or of Shelley. Entries must be received by 25 July and can be handed in at one of our regular Thursday meetings or at our Drop-In. Alternatively you can email your photo with your details to shelleydigitalphoto@yahoo.co.uk . Please supply your digital image only (no printed images). The finalists will be judged at the Over 60's Coffee Day on 27 August.

Consultation Sessions on Kirkheaton Neighbourhood Plan : 18 July at 7.30 pm and 20 July at 2pm at Kirkheaton Community Centre
Work on the Neighbourhood Plan is progressing and a Draft Plan has now been published, which sets out the vision for the area over the next 15 years.  Local residents and businesses are being asked for their input and opinions.  Please come to one of the sessions to find out more and put questions to members of Kirkheaton Future.  For it to be implemented it needs the support of the local people, so please do come and take part.

Charity Day at the Thorncliffe Working Men's Club : 21 July from 12 noon
All proceeds in aid of the Roleystone Horse & Pony Sanctuary and Pigs in the Wood. Attractions include Cake Stalls, Tombola, Raffles as well as lots of fun and games for children, Food and Live Entertainment.

Rise & Fall of Colne Bridge Forge : 25 July at Kirkheaton Community Centre at 7.30 pm
Kirkheaton Family & Local History Group's monthly talk will be given by Colin Beaver.  Entrance £2.50 including light refreshments. 

Walking Football with Shelley Over 60's : 26 July at Shelley Cricket Club

Yorkshire Pudding Day : 30 July
Any villagers who fancy a light lunch of Yorkshire Pud, gravy and sausage should contact Olwyn on 01484 301232. Admission including lunch £3. Puddings will be served from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm.
