Calendar of Community Events

All community groups and 'not for profit' organisations throughout the Parish are welcome to submit information regarding their forthcoming events for publication below, free of charge.  We will also display any information notices. However, we cannot display notices of a commercial or political nature.

21 - 29 September : Grange Moor Scarecrow Competition : Theme is Disney Characters
Pick up your voting form for “The People’s Choice” from The Grange.  £1 charge for each voting form.

Have a wander round the village and vote for your choice.  Return your voting form to The Grange by 4.00 pm on Sunday 22 September.  Voters will be entered into a prize draw, to be drawn at “Sunday Afternoon at the Races” (kindly sponsored by Diamond Logistics Ltd,) on Sunday 29 September.

There's lots to see and do in the village including the Dumb Steeple, the oldest standing structure dating back to 1776.   

26 September at 7.30 pm : Kirkheaton Local History Speaker "My Father's Experiences as a Fighter Pilot in WW2" at Kirkheaton Community Centre. Entry £2.50 inc light refreshments.

28 September at 7.30 pm : Fashion Show at Kirkheaton Community Centre.
Licensed bar. Tickets £5 (includes 1 drink, alcohol or soft). Proceeds will go to the Community Centre.

12 October : Dementia Awareness Event: "Grandma Remember Me?" and "What do you see?" : 2 Plays with an intermision and a talk by a Dementia Ambassador. Play times: 3pm - 4pm and 6.30pm - 7.30 pm at St John's Church in Kirkheaton.
Ticket price £5 includes a plated tea and admission to both shows.  It is advisable to see both performances, but it is possible just to see one.  People are asked to be seated 30 minutes before each performance.  

14 October, 10am to 4pm : Huddersfield Embroiderers' Guild Monthly Speaker : Jessica Grade, "Journey into the Unconventional" at Kirkheaton Parish Centre, Church Lane, Kirkheaton. Contemporary embroidery featuring bold, tactile and colourful embellishments created with mixed media materials. For further details, please email the Chair, Eve Hague at
