Calendar of Community Events

All community groups and 'not for profit' organisations throughout the Parish are welcome to submit information regarding their forthcoming events, and we will be pleased to include them on the list below free of charge.  Please allow 7 days before the event, if possible.  We will also display any information notices. However, we cannot display notices of a commercial or political nature.

'By the People, For the People' : New Exhibition at the National Coal Mining Museum
2017 marks the 70th anniversary of the nationalisation of the coal industry in Britain.  To mark this important and historic event, the National Coal Mining Museum will be launching a new special exhibition which opens on Monday 3 April and will run until 6 December. Shelley Gala: Sunday 16 July on the Cricket Field from 1.30 - 4.30

The King and Queen's parade starts from the Flying Ferret at 1pm.  There will also be a number of stalls and activities: children's rides, bouncy castles, new demonstrations etc.  The aim is to have a fun event, raise money for village groups and bring the community together.  If you would like to help, please contact Helen Bolton on 07456 474375. Kirkheaton Holiday Club : 26 - 28 July at Kirkheaton Parish Church : 'Journey into Space'

"Life before the Benefits System" on 27 July at 7.30 pm at Kirkheaton Community Centre

There's a new way to contact the Police.  A new emergency SMS system has been developed by the RNID, BT, DCLG and other partners to allow people with hearing difficulties to report an incident or in an emergency.
